Academically, Sonoma has been fine, but I have been absolutely miserable in the one and a half years that I have spent here. People are generally friendly and as others have stated previously, the dorms are terrific and huge. Sonoma is very much of a commuter school. The campus empties out on the weekend. Kids from the Bay Area go home and kids from Southern California tend to go to SF or anywhere to get away from the terrible, boring suburb that is Rohnert Park.

I really wanted to like SSU. When I first came here, I was attracted to the gorgeous campus, intimate nature of smaller classes, and the laid back atmosphere. It seemed like a very serene environment and a great place to study.

I was not looking for a "party school" as the person below me stated. I wanted a school where there were actually activities being held on campus during the weekend. The administration does little to help in this area..

Rohnert Park is a bedroom community that absolutely hates the college. Santa Rosa is decent but you have to drive there. Good public transportation does not exist here.

Did I mention that you'll be bored out of your mind here and that the townies resent the students? Just something I feel that I needed to reiterate.

I have been accepted to four flagship schools (in other states) in college towns where social interaction actually occurs. I will not be attending SSU after the completion of spring term.
