I'm currently finishing my 2nd year at depaul, academically its a decent school, the coursework can be challenging, definitely not a school for slackers, classes are small ranging from 20-40 people. Teachers are always willing to help, haven't had an encounter that suggested otherwise. As for the social life, like someone said before, you won't get that classic college experience of going to the big frat/house parties, because depaul doesn't have that. If you want the frat life, don't come to depaul because it is almost non-existent. The student body overall varies. There are the snobby, close-minded people who think they're cool because they're parents finally let them out of the suburbs, but there are also a fair amount of really cool/chill people, you just have to make the effort, because a lot of the people that go here are sheltered/afraid of meeting new people. Most of the student body I would is middle class, you rarely see anyone dressed as if they were attending NY fashion week. A lot sweat pants and t-shirts which is nice. Most of the drinking happens at the bars in Lincoln Park, Its located in the heart of Chicago. If it wasn't for its location, then I highly doubt anyone would ever attend. Chicago IS the best city in the U.S., besides the university of chicago, you can pass on attending any other college in chicago.Overall, I would say that my experience at depaul has been a neutral one. I will say that I am transferring for my junior year. I'm interested in engineering, and I want to get away from the city for awhile, since I am from chicago. I do regret not going to my other schools that I had got into coming out of high school, but it is what it is. I would highly recommend not making depaul your 1st choice though, There are better schools out there, trust me. I know first hand. If anything its better to just keep as a safety school in case everything else falls through.
