Menlo definitely not my first choice of schools. I visited the school 3 times before coming here because I was so sceptic, mainly because of the "small school" factor. There are no frats, no on-campus jamba juice, and everyone knows your name. But… some team members on your sport become like family, there is a jamba juice down the street (in safeway), and it's great that people know me. This "small school" vibe has enabled me to get things accomplished that I wanted to be accomplished.

Your questions in the classroom will be answered, and the professors are always at their office hours. For those that do well in school but are horrible at math (like me), Menlo has provided a 'Math Lab' where professors will sit and tutor you…for FREE! There are 'Study Slams' every tuesday night with free pizza. It's not like Menlo is baby-ing you at all… school work is very challenging, and Menlo is there to help you through it if you need it. They make sure you grasp the concepts to assure you graduate knowing your shit.

I am on Student Government, I work on campus, I was on a sport, but recently stopped because I couldn't juggle it with school and lost the passion for it. Although the Student Life may seem like its not super lively, we do what we can to make stuff happen! Movie nights, sharks games, paintball, carnival in the quad, menlo olympics, comedians, magicians, speakers, multi-cultural week, apollo night, mystery dance! There is not constant activity, but there is a fair share of events to the point where you have to choose which ones you have time for!

In the end of the day, I don't regret my decision in coming to Menlo at all. I love my major, I love the things I get to do, I met my girlfriend here, and most of the students are super down to earth and easily approachable. I feel like the biggest asset of Menlo are the connections and networks you get to have at the end. These professors have done some remarkable things before coming to Menlo, and they are great to keep in touch with. I can tell some of my good friends are going to be very successful when they leave Menlo, and I'm glad I have these relationships with these future leaders and innovators. When you surround yourself with good people, it gives you a better chance of being successful yourself. Menlo is what you make it… You can easily not handle it and have horrible experience and leave like some do… or you can embrace it for what they DO offer, and take advantage of the resources offered and come out of here very knowledgeable and successful.

Feel free to get a hold of me if anyone has questions!

questionThanks for the info! I want to know, after going through 4 years at Menlo, how did you feel at the end? Anything changes? Do companies in SV accept Menlo graduates? Thanks!
