I appreciate your honest review. Where did you transfer to? |
Major: Anthropology (This Major's Salary over time)
I really want to like Oberlin, honestly I do. It's a beautiful place, and I love everything it stands for (environmental/social justice, innovation & creativity, and open-mindedness). Unfortunately, in my experience it just doesn't stand for these things any more. The student body is dominated by hipsters that do nothing but make odd fashion statements and smoke cigarettes. I have no personal vendetta against alternative fashion (I actually love how open Oberlin is to those who choose not to conform), I'm simply saying that the Oberlin student body doesn't seem to have the same passion it's known for. There's a handful of active students, but on the whole I've just gotten the feeling that Oberlin's pretty much a 4-year hangout for rich New York hipsters. Additionally, if you want to study Anthropology, DON'T GO HERE! The program is tiny and entirely insufficient for any comprehensive study of the subject, hence it becomes my reason for transferring. That said, if you do actually intend to make your education worthwhile, English and natural sciences are pretty great here.
