First of all, if you are comming to learn and have a great time away; DO NOT COME HERE. The students there are so closeminded and judgmental. Comming from a Christian family where my father is a PASTOR, Olivet is an extremely poor reflection of the Nazarene denomenation. Here, you will be treated as a child and not the adult you are. If you have anything or are even WEARING anything that is seen as inappropriate to them, you will either be FINED or warned. Everyone here is all about the "Ring before Spring" meaning that people DO get married in before the spring semester in order to prevent pre-marital sex. YOU WILL BE SHUNNED if you don't act a certain way, dress or believe in the same things that others around you. I hated every minute of living on campus and yes I did go home every weekend and nearly everyone does go home on the weekend.

responseIt's a shame too because they have some decent professors and departments but the stuck up students ruin it for those of us that aren't as "fundamentalist" as they are.
responseI'm sorry you feel that way, especially coming from a christian family. In all fairness to the University, if you can't abide by the rules which are all, to some extent, based on Biblical fundamentals, this conservative Christian University is not for you. I understand you may hate curfew or the open dorm policies, but that's just the way it is. I really do believe that the Lord worked in me and through me during my time here even though i was not fond of the rules in place. Your bitterness for ONU sounds like it stems a little deeper than some simple rules to abide by. And the "Ring before Spring" is simply a joke. Marriage is your own choice. It is not pressured, envied, or rushed into to "avoid premarital sex." That is a funny joke though. True statement "Olivet is not for everyone," but if you are serious about your faith and want a place where that will be fed and where you will learn to take it out into the real world outside of our "buble" (in which every private school will have) this is the place for you. Actually, one of the reason I chose to come here was because of how sincere and kind the people are…are you sure we're talking about the same ONU? I wish you the best and hope you have found success somewhere else.

The student body is kind and sincere to other conservatives like themselves.
I consider myself a friendly liberal but that just does not fly with the student population here. They can be downright mean to you if your beliefs are different.
