Bowie State University is actually a great school for the amount of money students pay to get admitted.  Sure, there is no system that denies a portion of students based on GPA and past high school achievements; however, the University does offer great, challenging courses for all people to take.  It is not advised to take high school as a joke, but if a student did not do so well in high school, he or she can still redeem themselves and do well at Bowie State without worrying about getting admitted and doing busywork essays to show for it.

Professors have a one to one interaction with students which is a plus.  Office hour visits are always encouraged.  It is up to the student to accept or decline advice and ways to further achieve educational goals.  The school is very good in the education and business department.  The business department has all the courses a business major needs to prove worthy in the real world as does education and Nursing here.  The science department needs work and should have an engineering concentration.

Bowie State lacks with the student body believe it or not.  The campus is just very uninteresting for the most part.  Many commuters just leave and could care less.  Not all these commuters work part time during the school year or have other major responsibilities, but they just hate staying around the campus.  The campus needs some activities desperately.  It is a small school and the dorms are really not much to brag about, but the school is making huge progress with the students that now attend and the quality of the education, resources (new buildings) Some of the under achievers have left which is good, since people get irritated with that.  Sure, there are drugs, but as long as you make the correct decisions, this should not affect you.  Try to meet people that share the same interests with you and give it a try to meet people.  This place is extremely boring, if you have no friends here to hang out with or no suitable transportation.  I will tell you all this right now.  Go to some of the places on campus such as the game room or student lounge type areas to meet some folks.  It may be hard to find that special group of friends, but it is not impossible.  Just give things a try here it is not as bad as people point it out to be.  Yes, some of the students have issues and are really annoying to deal with, but not everyone is that way.
