I cannot express my disappointment in Skidmore College enough. I applied ED and was ecstatic about getting in, but my experience there was filled with nothing but unpleasantness. Here are some reasons why:

1- Residential life is HORRIBLE. If you are a freshman, you WILL be placed into a triple, and if one of your roommates is a drug addict, clepto-maniac, or verbally abusive it will not matter… you are stuck. Reslife does nothing to accommodate you. This happened to me and I was in a horrific living situation.

2- The people who go to this school are just plain nasty. Literally, all they do is sit around and gossip about one another. Everyone is painfully judgmental. People will act nice to your face, maybe, but watch out. They WILL stab you in the back. People have no boundaries. They will say nasty things about your appearance, clothes, social standing, etc. It's disgusting. Also, parties are NOT all-inclusive. At Skidmore, parties are normally based on whatever a cappella group, comedy group, sports team, or club you're in. Generally, if you're not a part of that organization, you are not invited, and more than that, not even WELCOME. Parties are extremely exclusive, and the student body generally tends to exclude even their own friends.

3- Academics are a joke. Class discussions lack substance. You will only get busy work. I had a 3.6 GPA at Skidmore and never studied. I feel like my writing skills have gotten worse.

4- Clubs usually have 2-10 members and do nothing.

Skidmore is an absolutely horrible institution. It is not worth 50k + by ANY means. Yeah, class sizes are great and yeah, the campus is pretty, but overall, all you hear is people complaining about the school (and their friends).

I cannot stress this enough. DO NOT GO TO SKIDMORE COLLEGE. YOU WILL BE SORRY.
