The professors here are interesting, knowledgeable people. The problem with class is that a vast majority of the students here seem to have very little intellectual interest, and there is hardly any interaction between students and the professor in most classes. Classes are a lot easier than high school and do not cover much material. The social atmosphere here is terrible and the school itself is very isolated. If you are a unique, well rounded person who is not reliant on a group of closed-minded peers you will be amazed at how hard it is to fit in with a majority of the people here. The school reflects the unfortunate socioeconomic situation of the region, and although I can't complain about the university itself, the nonexistent admission standards bring the place down by miles. Being a normal, secure, compassionate person who is quite popular and outgoing with my high school friends from Eastern PA, this place was a complete shell-shock. Almost anyone that seemed normal to me wanted to transfer after week one, it just feels like middle school or high school here socially. No one is around on weekends, and there is nothing to do in the town. Beautiful campus, thought, and the resources are there if you have any interest in using them. However, the general feeling here is you need to pump iron, drive a pickup truck, and be very loud and immature or no one will look your way. Sorry to say but I hated it here and I'm transferring to Pitt to be around some well-rounded people. If you're from Eastern PA and not very conservative and not just going to college because you're being forces, please look elsewhere, it really matters.
