Major: Architecture (This Major's Salary over time)
Since no student has posted from the School of Architecture, i figured i would shed some light from my perspective and hopefully help clear up some of the comments made so far. NYIT is in my opinion an fairly good school. There are plenty of issues, don't get me wrong, but i had previously attended other colleges, and visited/stayed with friends at other universities and NYIT is not so bad compared to the rest. In fact it is better in most instances. Some of the negative aspects include the lack of a student social community. Due to the very diverse populous here international students tend to keep to themselves as well as other ethnic groups. And then you have the cliques formed by majors, perfect example being architecture students. The School of Architecture and design in my opinion is STELLAR. Taking place in the heart of Manhattan (OW is not to far either) there is no better place to learn mastery of Architecture. The faculty (for architecture) differs from campus to campus however. On the manhattan campus students are privileged to learn under practicing architects who currently are working or have worked in top architecture firms. My previous professor for example was working under Renzo Piano before taking her position as a full time design professor. In addition guest lectures like the one hosted by Richard Maier really add to the quality of this top notch program. The OW faculty are more laid back and understanding. They are there to help you learn and are less aggressive with your output (or lack there of). Overall, when considering architecture as a major, OW is much easier but in Manhattan you are with the best of the best, and will learn much more.

Additionally, a heads up on some more negative aspects of student life on campus that may lead you to decide NYIT is not the perfect fit for you:

MA CAMPUS- ABSOLUTELY NO PLACE FOR STUDENTS JUST TO RELAX. We did have a building but it eventually got destroyed due to aggressive student activity. Now it has been turned into the offices for Student Government. There is one little place in this building to get snacks but no real cafeteria.

OW- there are places for students to congregate but for 20,000/yr tuition it would be nice to see some updates.

All in all i am happy being an NYIT student and will be proud when i graduate to say i went here.
