Hello friends,

I am not going to defend

the best school in the world

or do any of that polar review crap. I am simply going to respond to the obvious misconceptions of my college.

First, your access to future prospects. The man to my right is about to graduate and head off to a top law school. I myself have just received my study guide for the Foreign Service Officer Exam I will take on June 7th. This career aspiration did not appear in a dream or some other inspiration. It was because of Elon. How may you ask?

I went abroad last January. 22 days. 7 countries. 15 members of European Parliment. Two ambassadors. The Pope. I was pushed toward a career in the foreign service because the United States Ambassador to Lithuania recommended it to me. Last night, I was at a party saying goodbye to a dear friend who is going to Mali for two years to join the Peace Corps. Three nights ago, a different student also had a party before her departure for the Peace Corps. Tell me again how Elon does not give you an opportunity for success?

Elon has a terrible reputation????? Ok bitter people in the world. Three hours after submitting my application to intern for Arlen Specter I got a call from their office. Because of Elon. How do I know this?

We have had interns from Elon and we are going to give you this internship based on their great reputation.

Maybe a senator of the United States means nothing to you. You were saying about our reputation?

Greek Life. Get your anti-conformist, they only buy their friends, animal house baseless accusations out of here. I am greek. My house may be considered a place where we converge. Greeks and non-Greeks go to these events. How do I know this? Well just last night I spent hours with non-greeks. The biggest social gathering of Festivus is heavily non-greek. Greek life produces over 100k in philanthropy, 800 hours of service, and 9 out of 15 organizations have a higher GPA than the all-campus average.

As a tour guide, it is frustrating to have to sit here and read this crap about a script of some sort of brainwashing that supposedly goes on here. Unreal. I have kept in contact with dozens of prospective students once they come to Elon and have never received the feedback i am reading on these sites. Shock.

I saw someone defended the credibility of this site. Great site. WE ARE A PRIVATE SCHOOL. Despite this basic fact, we are ranked #256 in the nation among public schools according to this site. Thanks?

Religion.

If you aren't Christian don't go there.

I'm going to forward that to my friend the President of Hillel who this semester had a Passover Seder in which over 100 people attended. Including our President. I am going to think about that Sunday morning when I'm reading the paper. I am not religious but as the comments on this site may suggest I'm an outlaw? Oppressed? Something like that.

Elon is a school on the rise. To say it has hundreds of years of history is untrue. We were founded in 1889 and were left with just one building after a fire in 1923. We are one of only 10 percent of schools in the country to have a Phi Beta Kappa chapter. One class this semester was taught by a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist. 85 percent of our professors have their terminal degree, no classes are taught by a TA, and our largest classes have 35 students. Elon was the best decision of my life. I am not a bowtie-wearing prep boy that all Elon students supposedly are. I just wish the negative comments had facts behind them. If you notice, many are blanket accusations and crazy misconceptions. Please respond.

I have already committed to Elon but I got on this site anyway to see what people have to say. Thank you for reassuring me that this is the right school for me. I am so excited!

I just took my daughter to Elon this weekend and we were highly impressed with the quality of the campus visit. We had an outstanding, articulate, well rounded, and intelligent campus guide. He was absolutely amazing, but most importantly, he portrayed a smart African American male who had goals and a passion that he was striving for as he prepared for the world of work. Elon is definitely producing fine students. I was most impressed with the Multicultural Center Recruiter and Multicultural Center Director. This apparently is a big initiative the school is dedicated to growing their minority population and we were very impressed.

Yes,the campus setting was like no other, and knowing as a student that you could learn more about yourself by taking that first step by participating and stepping out of your comfort zone and taking advantage of all of t the varied experiences offered, it is a true blessing.

So as people take the time to read both positive and negative criticism, you must know it for yourself by visiting Elon and getting to know the staff there. Know it for yourself, empowerment and knowledge represent power!. Thank you Elon for all you are doing to grow productive citizens for this society. The question is, how how are you taking advantage of all of the opportunities this s school is offering at the end of the day?
It is like a marriage and Elon must be the best fit for you. I was most impress with how friendly and encouraging both the staff and my peers were.
