I focused in Environmental Studies.  Some of the teachers are really amazing and helpful.  But there are definatly a handful that can be self centered and only focus on there way up the ladder.  The students can sometimes be a little extreme and close minded (on the extreme liberal side), but if you are a extreme liberal like me then it works cause you can focus on the actual sciences and not the politics (AKA everyone here doesn't deny global climate change, so you argue the science not the idea).  If your from somewhere like Manhattan or Seattle and are into the high fashion world you might not like Olympia.  But surprisingly many people from all walks of life from all over the world love Olympia, there is a good sense of community pride.  Downtown is cool but its not Seattle and has its own culture which is cool for such a small city.  Cost of living is not bad.  Campus is sometimes gone through waves of hard drugs (this year on campus there have been a number of incidents 2009-2010 school year) and has happened before so if your in AA or NA you dont want to live on campus.  Many people smoke pot or at least are okay with it, so if your a pothead its a great place to learn while not being prosecuted for it.  The Beach and Environmental Reserve are AMAZING!!!!  The reserve only has trails on about 1/4 of it so if you want to get off the trails there are hidden gems but the trails are nice to.  Organic Farm is small and many people dont ever use it for anything but some people do and for those who do they seem to like it the way it is even if it could use an expansion.
