Major: Music - Performance (This Major's Salary over time)
I came to Tech through a series of familial misfortunes to the point that it became the most affordable, realistic option. I had several other schools picked out, and had been admitted to IU Bloomington's music program. Tech simply became the only viable option. From the second I sat down in freshman orientation to my last day of finals freshman year, I have been nothing if not impressed with the school, particularly the faculty. I'm a music performance (double specialty-horn & piano)/pre-medical biology double major, and I have continually underestimated not only the patience and helpfulness of the faculty but, as far as the music department goes, talent. Some of the music staff have attended Juilliard, some come from overseas. I know of one who has played with the Rome Symphony Orchestra. The things I haven't been as impressed with are the students. You should NOT come to this school if you have a problem with rednecks. There also seems to be a desperate lack of attractive girls. Just saying. Also, the dorm I stayed in was literally falling apart. We have keycards to access our dorms. Well, we didn't need them, as we didn't have external doors for a semester. They had all fallen off by the second week, and maintenance was painfully slow at getting them, or anything else, repaired. And all the pianos are always out of tune.
