Major: Communications (This Major's Salary over time)
I was accepted to the university to obtain a B.A. in public relations. When I arrived for my first semester at HPU I was told that they no longer offered this major. They had combined my program with advertising its exact title is B.S. in advertising and public relations: strategic communication / personal account management. Aside from the extremely long title of my new degree the program itself is pointless because of how little they actually teach. Everything is commonsense and new media things that our age group already has a great grasp of. And when it comes to research resources provided for students to learn and be effective every single book and piece of data used by our classes to make assumptions about population are from before 2005, fyi its 2010. To me, this is unacceptable. There is no challenge at HPU. If you are looking to pay for a degree this is the place to go, if you are looking to learn and gain something from your degree go somewhere else. Aside from the horrible educational standards the staff at Hawaii Pacific University is unhelpful and rude. Do not go to HPU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot stress enough that this institution is not one of higher education but a revolving door for paid degrees.
