I transferred to MSU my sophomore year from a small private college because I couldn't find friends with the same hobbies as me. MSU has every kind of person so there is no need to worry about fitting in. Everyone is very friendly and it's nice to meet someone new every day. Also if you get bored, there are many fun activities planned for each night whether it is with you RA or a campus thing. They also have their own bowling alley and movie theater.
