Major: Other (This Major's Salary over time)
I attended OU in a very non-traditional way. I was an online student as part of their newer Liberal Studies program. I loved the program because it was 100% online and I also took it self-paced which means I had up to 6 months to complete one course. Overall the courses covered a wide range of interests which I really liked and I also had the ability to take them when I wanted to and to complete the assignments when I wanted to. Almost every professor I had was extremely helpful and encouraging but I did have a few that were ridiculous to contact and it seemed that they were impossible to please. My advisor was AWESOME. I feel bad because I literally went to her for EVERYTHING- when I couldn't get responses from professors, when I couldn't get a hold of the financial aid department- everything! She was so helpful and encouraging though… she really helped me throughout my entire time at OU.The only issues I ever had was with financial aid. Due to the online, self-paced courses it seemed like every month they were causing my other loans to go into repayment. If this wasn't happening then somehow they were stating I wasn't enrolled or that I wasn't a student so I'd have to reapply for financial aid. I really had a terrible time getting a hold of the office and then getting anything done once I did.I did have to go onto the Tulsa branch campus twice to pick up disbursement checks. The secretary saw my child and automatically assumed I was there for a free clinic and that I wasn't a student. She clearly thought I was beneath her and was rude. Everyone I dealt with at the actual branch excluing the security officers acted like that- like I was there wasting their time when they could be doing something better.
