Major: Computer Science (This Major's Salary over time)
Course:Computer Networking and SecurityI began attending Brown Mackie in April of 2009. I have been disapointed with every class. Why?1. Most of the teachers dont know what they are talking about and read right out of the book. Some teachers will show a power point with screen shots of the pages within the book. Honestly, I found myself teaching the class on serveral occasions because the teacher did not understand the material. Why should I pay thousands of dollars to have a teacher read to me when I can go home and learn on my own!?2. Books are expensive and can be purchased cheap else where. Trouble is, they dont provide a book list.3. Books are very outdated… And did I mention expensive.4. Equipment to complete projects is outdated. Im taking a computer class. Technology changes rapidly. During my attendance the students were required to complete projects found in the books, problem was the equipment was so outdated we could never start the projects. So the teacher would have to figure some way of teaching us how to apply what we have read.5. They will charge you for classes you dont complete. Brown Mackie charges students per quarter (3 months) not per class. So if you happen to get sick, want to take a vacation, need to leave town due to family emergency and need a few weeks off, good luck, you will be charged for the classes you have not yet taken within the quarter.I hope this give some help to those looking for answers about Brown Makie. My experience has been really negative towards the school. The people are great and I do miss everyone, but remember, your going to school for an education, not friends. Brown Mackie was not challenging at all, I am a straight "A" student with a 4.0 after a year of attending. I am currently trying to transfer to a different university but Brown Mackie is making this a real pain. They will not release my transcripts because I owe a balance on a class I have not taken. Problem is, I spoke to serveral advisors about my plans to leave, and they told me it would be ok as long as I completed the month of May, which I did, and now a month later Im paying the price. I am actually working with a lawyer to see if I have a case and sue. Again hope this helps.
