I'm in the Class of 2013 and I think SMCM merits its number 3 ranking as the best public liberal arts college in America.Every class freshman year had 20 or less students. Professors were always accessible by many methods: office, email, phone and even their homes. They care and they show it.All you have to do to begin to make a real friend is start a conversation with anyone. People come up and stop you to introduce themselves.Everything about this place is terrific. The education is top notch. The rooms very nice. The food, oh the food, you'll think you died and went to heaven. Our social life is outstanding. Sure, we're in the country but there are nice sized cities just 15 minutes away. Hey,Dominoes and Chinese deliver so how bad can it be? Every weekend is packed with things to do both set up by the school and the students. In short, anyone who doesn't like SMCM, well, the problem is likely with them, not the 99 percent of the student body who knows they found one of the true gems in the U.S. college system. Few colleges are better than St. Mary's College of Maryland. There are reasons why it's the state's Honors Program. Wait until you're challenged to do your best in your easiest freshman classes by your fellow classmates. Slouches don't cut it here. It's a serious school providing a serious education for serious students who have serious fun when the time is right to do so.I was accepted at 10 different schools from William and Mary, Georgetown, Duke and others. I made the absolute right choice to come here. Everything "fits" just right. It will for you too so please don't listen to the naysayers. You'll be glad you came here for all the reasons I've expressed and if you are a Maryland resident, you stand a great chance of graduating from a top level college debt free. How many other leading colleges can say that?
