Date: Jul 02 2010 Major: Perfomance Arts (This Major's Salary over time) I started at Point Park as a Dance major and added a second major in Sport, Arts, and Entertainment Management. I was NOT pleased with the majority of the dance program. While the faculty may have many great credentials, the majority of the students do not get hardly any performance experience in the program. There are about five shows per year and a handful of dancers get cast in every show leaving the rest to graduate without having stepped foot on stage unless to sweep it while working on the crew for the show they weren't cast in. With a skimpy resume, it's difficult to get a job in the real dance world. My advice, go to a school with many performance opportunities. My advice if you still wish to attend Point Park, if as a freshman you aren't cast in anything, don't come back for your sophomore year because you will continue to be overlooked. On the upside, the Sport, Arts, and Entertainment Management program is great! The best choice I ever made was to pick up that major. They definitely prepare you for a job in those fields and the faculty is willing to help whenever you need. Good luck!
