Major: Language - French/Spanish/etc. (This Major's Salary over time)
Some departments were far better than others, so this choice should depend on the intended major and how far the student plans to go in his or her education. Also, job placement and career services again were adequate for some subjects, but dire in others. When I attended, education and nursing were respected and had many contacts to network for work later. The fine arts and performing arts departments were very good. (I have heard that things have changed in education, but don't have 1st hand knowledge.) However, even students who had higher GPAs, were involved with extra-curricular groups, graduating with honors, etc. (and many of my friends and I fit this bill so I did hear from different people) in other subjects did not receive much help or encouragement with graduate school options and decisions. Most of us felt that instruction was generally good (no TAs, professors open) with some exceptions, but that career networking was largely non-existent outside of a few departments. I would not consider this for pre-law, technical or scientific, or other areas in which a BA/BS degree is only a starting point.
