Major: History/Histories (art history/etc.) (This Major's Salary over time)
TCNJ is my favorite place in the world. It's a rare gem.

Pros:

  • students are HAPPY. my friends and I are usually miserable to leave the school.
  • education is excellent. coarse work is challenging enough to be satisfying, but still not impossible.
  • majors are really customizable.
  • food is incredible, dorms are not as nice as, say, ramapo's. however they're nicer than most schools and they do the job.
  • cons -

  • it is difficult to switch majors out of your department. but that is the case with a lot of schools. it's a difficult place to be undecided in though. at least know what department you're interested in when you join.
  • not big on sports. i personally am not an athlete. but if you want football, go to penn state, not tcnj.
  • some departments are tougher than others. my friends who are in bio are having a hard time, however, the program is brilliant.
  • you don't HAVE to participate in greek life to have a rewarding social life, but you can feel the separation between greeks and non greeks. it's not that much of a big deal, but it is there.
  • the surrounding town could be more fun, but there are TONS of trips available (and for cheap).
  • EVERYONE IS FROM IN STATE. But that's what you get for coming to a state school. It's the college of NEW JERSEY for crying out loud.
  • TCNJ is basically perfect in my opinion. I am having the time of my life. It balances work and play in a way that satisfies every student. I have yet to meet an unhappy TCNJ student. Good luck with your college search!
