I came to Evangel University as a ripe freshman hoping I would find an intellectually satisfying college experience and a mature atmosphere away from highschool drama, but I what I hoped for was the opposite of what I got. Evangel can be described in one word, "closed." The people here are VERY close-minded, very conservative, upper middle class white people. There is very little diversity, so if you are going to college to meet many types of people, don't go to Evangel. There is a HUGE empasis on dating and relationships. You are considered not cool if you aren't dating anyone, or are ignored. People at Evangel are very cliquish. I felt like people were forcing me to join a certain clique, and I couldn't be friends with lots of different people. The professors are very condescending. The rules are incredibly ridiculous. Chapel was boring and I didn't feel like I got any spiritual growth. I feel like so many people are fake at Evangel. They put on their smiles and are friendly, but there is nothing more to them. Campus spirit is a big thing. If you're not fully in support of the "Crusaders" and cheer them on at every football game, then people think, "What are you doing at Evangel?" Let me put it this way, if you're going to college to get a quality education, meet life-long friends, and enjoy freedom from the whole highschool thing, than Evangel is definitely not the place for you.

responseI think that you just may be hanging around the wrong people, because my experience is completely different from the one that you are explaining. Maybe you should try to meet different people on campus and that would help you out some :-) As for teachers. I know some have their issues, but most of the ones i have come across have been great. I guess you may just be having back luck with your teachers too, but i hope it gets better for you! :-)
commentThere is not a responsibility by EU to help, instruct or guide and/or any curriculum to the pressure that the students have on dating and marriage They are kids getting married before graduation and just after BS or BA graduation against their expectations and goals they had with themselves and their parents due to the pressure they have as a narrow minded and closed mentality about the real world. Parents send their daughters especially to have the MRS degree and they prepared them to see the kids who comes from nurture, with economical advantages, no experience with relationships, naive, with the purpose of the female not to return home cause they already have over 18 and somebody has to take care of their daughters or finish their job not done by them such as feeding, health, teeth work, manners, etc. they are trained to be aggressive, carry the pants, etc. controlling. besides that the females that married early before graduation they live in poor conditions, continue studying with long debts with student loans, credit cards, etc they are the madonnas, the counselors for the females that are in the road to be like them, pressuring to be "married" and not to be the only ones in the road again towards divorce, malnutrition, domestic abuse, depression, eating disorders, super heavy for the majority, etc.

What a pressure for students that come from Christian or non- Christian homes that are goal oriented, sending their children to prepare themselves professional and spiritual and personally and they have to cut short their goals and dreams and make the poor choices to get married at an early age. There is a irresponsibility a lack of preparation at EU on a curriculum to support and help the pressure that the students have since day one by adults there to get married. There is a need of a curriculum to prepare the students for these pressure of a big decision in their lives that is very serious for life on the institution of marriage. Where is the Plan of Action to prepare the them for the real world? What is the purpose of life according to God's plan to fulfill the purpose of life and what is Gods plan of action in order to be focus orderly in the flesh, what is saying and teaching in the Bible to be equip and deal with them?… and more. EU needs a course and curriculum in action to avoid the high rate on divorces within these marriages that are occurring at EU. Open your mind to the real world, the amount of practices of oral sex and STDs' the amount of virgins experienced in oral sex, the leaders that married since age 16 17 18 19 20, in the 30's 40's 50's, 60's 80'of the Assemblies of God, that lived a different generation and is becoming generational, repeating, a pattern; this are different generation, we are in the 21st

Century. When I interview couples married within the AG or outside AG married for years they expressed being sexually, neglected, emotionally and physically abused but they do not have no way out due to the

religion, believes, God's punishment, etc
This is happening now, somebody has to cut the chain and stop the divorce and abusive marriages due to the pressure to get married or not to pass certain age, or for parents no to close their doors to the girls and boys, instead prepare them with high goals, served, volunteer, professionals, etc. It is a shame. check you drop out or retention and said the truth or find the truth of the why. One of my relatives is one of these victims, and has many of them in the same condition.

Any comment will be welcome and constructive positive or negative for me and who read them. I want to collaborate as parent, citizen, professional and Christian. Thank you. Many prayers and reality from me.

Giovanna MFT/CPC/LADC/ Christian Counselor and a mother ps. any written errors my apologies.

commentIt is so disappointing to read about someone’s ruined college years. When I entered the university, I faced the same problem. You should change it as soon as possible or the only thing you will tell your kids will be regrets about lost youth. Here https://www.lesbiedates.com/bisexual-chat.html you will be able to get acquainted with awesome girls
commentWow, this is something
I didn't think it's that bad
commentThere's a huge emphasis on dating and relationships? It's quite unusual and interesting. You know, I'm not seeking serious relationships right now. I'm a fan of dating different people. You can find some mature hookup sites I use regularly if you are interested in it too. I bet you'll find a dating platform that will satisfy all your needs.
