Major: Computer Science (This Major's Salary over time)
I began attending UNC Charlotte with the intention of obtaining a degree in science or engineering. I decided on Computer Science after speaking to the one of the advisers who was also a professor. This adviser became my department adviser and remained a great resource, including helping me form a strategy to complete my degree (despite working nearly full-time hours and dealing with family losses).I did graduate and four years after my graduation hold a senior-level software developer position. The education I received at UNC Charlotte was invaluable, and at in-state tuition rates, the degree has a great return on investment. My suggestion to any student who feels they are falling between the cracks is to go to your adviser or the professor/instructor and make sure they know who you are and what your situation is; it has been my experience that they will do what they can to help you achieve your goals.UNC Charlotte is also has excellent campus housing availability compared to other state universities in NC.
