Date: Jul 29 2010 Major: Electrical Engineering (This Major's Salary over time) I got a good job right out of WNEC. They have really incredible opportunities to make connections with "local" companies that have a global presence. WNEC is a major pipeline for Pratt & Whitney, United Technologies, Sikorsky, MassMutual (a mile away), Hasbro, and some of the other major corporations with headquarters within a half-hour. Smith & Wesson, Big Y, and Merriam-Webster are other Springfield companies worth exploring. The local legal establishment is also pretty much run by WNEC Law grads. All five of the major local banks were run by WNEC grads when I started there. You aren't guaranteed work at any of these companies, but being right around the corner for four years certainly helps. The national recognition of the school is the major weakness, although this is changing as they get high-profile alumni like the current Lt. Governor of Massachusetts. For those expecting four years of partying, WNEC isn't the place. It is located in a quiet suburb. Not a recipe for much excitement.
