Major: Education (This Major's Salary over time)
Scranton is a good school and has a positive reputation for its academics, especially in the science and specialized majors such as education, nursing, physical and occupational therapy. The new facilities are also beautiful. Other the education and new buildings, I did not like this school which I will list.

Students: Said to be one of the friendliest schools. Like all places there are many nice people and many not so nice. However I did find the students to be individualistic and sort of "fake", even if they seemed nice. I almost got the vibe that students were overly nice just so they can be known as the friendliest person on campus. Don't get me wrong not everyone was like this, there were some very down to earth people.

Setting: Scranton, PA is an economically depressed town and has been like that for almost a century. Location is probably the worst of any university. The city is not well maintenance and seems backwards in time. No UofS graduate stays in Scranton once they graduate from the U, unless its their hometown. Without the university, I believe Scranton would be a complete ghost city. As for the campus itself, probably the most unattractive campus I've seen excluding the new student center. There are no campus boundaries and the area is noisy.

Housing: Scranton has a serious housing issue for upperclassmen. Freshman and Sophomore housing is guaranteed thanks to the newly built dorms but on campus living for juniors and seniors is limited. Most students end up living off campus in run down houses. Not only is atmosphere of most of these houses not great but I think when you have half the students living on and off campus it takes away from the community.

Resources and extracurricular: While most professors are very helpful and are willing to work with students outside class, I find other resource areas (such as academic advisory, housing staff, etc.) to be less helpful. One thing I do not like about this school is that there are no D1 sports. I think the lack of at least one D1 sport team really has an impact on community and school spirit.

To me Scranton is a good school academically like any well-know private college, but really is nothing special. After a year I transferred to another school and couldn't be any happier.
