(WIU) I wish someone would of told me that transfering

I wish someone would of told me that transfering was not as easy as you would think. I went into Western Illinois University with the thought process that if I don't like it I can transfer. While that is true, there is only a small window of opportunity to do so without screwing up your credits. Because I missed that opportunity I ended up staying (it was either that or go into more debt and starting over at another school.)

Let me first start with the social life. All people do there is drink; that is how people pass the time, because there is absolutely nothing to do. I am not a big drinker and like to spend my time doing other things like going to the movies,which by the way there is only one lame theater in town. It's only open in the evenings and it is a two screen and they charge a lot! Anyway in addition to watching movies, going to plays, going to discussions, and so many more things. Plus I like diversity, which at that school there is none. It's very segerated. I went to the Student Activity office to try to get out and about and be involved. Told me to go to their website where there are a list of organzations on campus. Problem is most of the organzations that are listed are no longer there, and the ones that are there are disorganized. The only way to get involved in something productive is joining a Faternity or Sorirty. I did not do that because all it was was organized drinking. There is so much more but I will end with this, the town is lame.

Now on to the education aspect. The education there is not good at all! I got a minor in African American studies. The professors were not good. I had one profesor teach about the Willie Lynch letter as a fact. I took her at her word and was talking to someone and they told me that it was a hoax. Did my own research and it turned out it was a hoax. For my major I was not prepared either and once I got out in the real world what I was taught was a bunch of bull. Plus people were getting into class who did not have the skills to be in that class. I could write more but this is getting to long.

If you're thinking about going to this school don't go. My biggest regret in life.

I don't know when you wrote this, but if you got accepted into other schools then go to the other schools.

What they presented to me about the school was not what I got. I would have been better off at my community college.

College is suppose to be a great time in your life when you are experience different things. WIU does not offer this.

I look at my friends, not from WIU, and I am jealous. There school experience was awesome. They have such school pride and I don't have this.

If you are a well rounded person you will not like this small backwards school or town. I made the mistake of going there. I dug myself into a hole, and got stuck there.
