i notice everyone who had bad comments came from the business and or computer majors…I'm a physician assistant major and it's going well….I'm from philly and id first moved out here in 2009, since then ive made numerous friends and I NETWORK…the school cant get you friends you have to do that yourself…i've met friends at the hospital while working and through my major and I'm ALWAYS doing something…trust me ive went to a big college before and i had friends there too becuz I chose to be social and meet others if all you do is complain and GO home every weekend your not going to meet ANYONE…so to everyone who came here because of the penn state affiliation thats your fault and they have great majors you have to apply yourself the degree itself isnt what gets you the job it's how you market yourself i have friends who have graduated from big schools where they have 30k plus people, like the university of south carolina and drexel. and they havent found jobs if you graduate from penn you have a job and i know when i finish i have a guaranteed job ANYWHERE in america…if you dont like it leave but dont think youll find a great job with a liberal arts school degree in most cases those degrees are only helpful for grad school…p.s. not everyone here is stupid after i graduate im taking a year off working to save up some cash for med school and im going to attend med school…nothings impossible…

responseHaving attended penn college and graduated from their IT Security major i can tell you it's harder finding a job than what you may think, even with a 3.4 GPA and being able to market yourself appropriately. a B.S. degree in comp sci means very little anymore and, somewhat related to what you said, you might as well attend a liberal arts school like penn state and move on to grad school. i believe most complaints from the IT folk are due to the fact that penn college advertises itself as a branch campus of Penn State (or perhaps, the tech arm of penn state) and as a result students attending penn college expect their degrees to do more for them (huh, did I hear 'degrees that work'?) because of the penn state affiliation. they quickly realize, putting it bluntly, the school is crap (at least the school of business and computer technologies). and it can't even pass as a tech school but a lesser form of a community college. this is where all the complaints come from. penn colleges inability to provide the educational services they advertise (again, at least within the school of business and computer technologies) as far as being social goes. i believe most of the complaints were spoken from those who stayed on campus weekends and everybody else left. hard to be social on a campus when there's nobody else around.
