Hi, I am interested in pursuing a career in Non-Profit Management. I am currently looking at IU-Bloomington, UIowa and UIC. What makes this program top-notch? What types of courses did you take for gen ads and for your specific degree? What was the overall best part of your experience? And how do you go about into seeking the best non-profit organizations to hire you? |
Major: Other (This Major's Salary over time)
I loved my time here! My degree has taken me a long way. I spent some time as a Theatre major before switching to Non-Profit Managment thorugh SPEA. My advisors in both programs went above and beyond their job title. I could come in at any time just to talk about life, not just school. Also, graduating during a bad economy is never ideal. However, three weeks before graduation I had three different job offers. Now almost three years later—I have two high profile companies/non-profit org. recruiting me. In one case I was skipped past the HR department and recruited by the Ex.Dir. and then interviewed directly by the CEO! IU has totally paid off. Like any school I have debt to pay back, but at least I have a career that allows me to do so when many others do not. I'm also living in one of the most expensive cities in America and can do so with ease—in the non-profit industry! Come here, you will love it. And it will turn you into a snob—no other college campus is as beautiful as this one. I went to UC Berkely a few weeks ago (everyone "raves" about the campus) its so ugly compared to IU. And of course the town around it is great. Its just big enough to have fun unique things to do, but still small enough to remind you of your hometown.
