I attended GCU for my undergraduate degree on campus, receiving my BA. I have finished my first masters degree through GCU in Addictions Counseling, and am now working on my masters in Christian Studies.

I understand that people have frustrations with GCU, but I will say that without a doubt this institution helped me through a very hard curriculum with understand, assistance, and a Christian hand. My success as a 3.8 gpa student was dependent not only on the university and their drive for high academic expectations, but also on my own determination.
The complaints here seem to be from people who did not have the follow through to make their education happen. If you don't know that student loans take at least four weeks to post (per federal mandates) and that you will have to pay out of pocket for your books, that is on you. If you are depending on somebody else to walk you through your FAFSA, hold your hand in class, and treat you like a middle school student, then go to a community college.

None of this is stated to be negative, I am simply giving advice. Attending a four year university brings the expectations of maturity, and with it steps to make your education happen. From my experience GCU has grown quite a bit in the last few years, but also matured with the growth. I speak to many student who transfer from ASU, UOP, etc., and have shared with me that they love the customer service, feel that they have been given a gift, and are doing with it what they must to be successful.
