Major: Political Science (This Major's Salary over time)
This is my first year here at WSU. I'm a transfer student, so if you are thinking about transferring then I will tell you that you are pretty much on your own. High school student freshmen are far more knowledgeable about how the university works than transfer students. We (transfers) are just another number. Before I get into anything else, let me just say that regardless of who you are, if you have a car and plan on bringing it then you better have at least $500 cash for a parking pass. When you get to campus, don't even step outside your car to look around or you will recieve a $75 parking ticket. I got 3 tickets my first day on campus (welcome to WSU!). And of course its added to your student account so you start off in the hole. Then they speak about "yellow zone" and "green zone" parking as if we learned that in elementary school. Common knowledge…I will say that there are thousands and thousands and thousands and thousands and thousands and of really good looking girls. Its insane. Thats the biggest plus. Now as an African American I can say that if you are black and not an athlete, you should not attend this school. Eveybody kinda expects you to be on the football team or basketball team because well why else would you be in college right? A lot of students (I think) have never interacted with anyone outside their race (white) and so they stare and stare and stare as if they can't believe their eyes. …I can just imagine the converstaions as they walk by. Whispering and pointing. This is not a party school. I think "party" is up to interpretation. Getting drunk is not partying. If you plan on being in the frat or sorority then you might can combine a few experiences to call "parties" but its pretty boring around here. Spokane to people here is the equivalent to New York City…better yet…its bigger and better than Manhattan! Oh and lets not forget about Moscow, Idaho which supercedes Los Angeles in the "big cities" list. If this is a party school then I hate to see a non-party school. Pullman is one of the most dilapidated cities in the U.S. But wait…there is hope…Pullman just got approved for the building of its first Wal*Mart!!!! yeah!!!! That pretty much says it all. Now I didn't expect anything comparable to Seattle or any other 21st century or (modern) city but I thought with all these "parties" going on that there would be some stores. But hey, Spokane York City is just an hour and a half away right? I'm not mad at my decision, I kinda sorta knew what I was getting into; however I had no idea that there was a segment of the U.S. population, in the year 2010, who had never seen a non-white. I'm not sure whether anyone here has heard of a guy named "Barack Obama"….I think he is the President of the United States…maybe I'm mistaken, maybe they still think his name is Barry Soetoro????? idk The faculty is great though which significantly improves things. So I would recommend that you look for a school in an area where people have actually interacted with different ethnic groups like UW, U of Puget Sound or SeattleU. "Dude, why is that black guy hatin on our school and not practicing with the rest of the football team bro"?
