Hey, I was planning on transferring to either Mercer University or KSU from AIU which is a small not well-known school. But I wanted to have your opinion since you seem to know what you're talking about on your post. One of the reasons why I wanted to attend KSU is because I know they also have a lot of international students and I am one too so I thought it would be fun to get to meet some people since I met nobody at AIU but also AIU is not that hard on academics and I've read that KSU really is. So, would you still recommend this school to a person like me or not really? Thank you =) |
Major: Perfomance Arts (This Major's Salary over time)
I transferred to KSU after a year at a big SEC school. I had to move closer to home, and though I loved my first school, I had to leave. But I was optimistic about KSU.I have hated this place since I got here and can't wait to transfer to UGA. There's none of the following: football, social life, greek housing, sane Christians, beautiful campus (everything is concrete, except a patch of land that they appropriately call "The Green". That's the only green you'll see though), school pride, anything that makes a school fun to attend. This is a commuter school. People come to campus, take their class, and get the hell out of dodge. On the weekends? The place is abandoned. The students don't care about the school or each other. It's a really cold, depressing school. A lot of students are older and use the phrase So a lot of people there have very broken spirits and are at school to make life better. Which is awesome, but it's a depressing environment and the depression is contagious. You won't graduate in 4 years, they make it impossible. There aren't enough classes for the 25K students they have. You're going to fight for classes. The school is awful about communication and clarification. I had to teach myself how everything works when I got here. The classwork is a lot harder than at my major SEC school (wtf?). The school is rigorous in academics and determined to make a name for themselves. If you're going to work this hard, do it at a school that will get you the credit of a hard worker. My department in particular is absolute BS; they're all about being "real" theatre and disciplining you as an artist. It sucks and has completely ruined my love for the art. I have to write a 20 page paper for my acting class. Does that make any sense? The departments as a whole are like that, they work you into the ground. If you're here for an easy diploma, go to GCSU.I think there's a difference in my experience than for others. If you're a freshman coming in and this is the only college life you know, then it won't be bad, and you'll love it. As for me, I came from the exact opposite type of school and I loved that school so I guess I was destined to not fit in here.If you're a freshman and don't know what you want in school (for instance, you're not set on a die-hard traditional school) then come and give it a try. If you're a transfer, give serious thought to where you're coming from and what you want to go to. I don't recommend it, but obviously I'm a little bitter.
