As a small, rural women's college, Sweet Briar is not the right place for everyone. However, it was certainly the right place for me.A quick online search will reveal the following passage about SBC:"Sweet Briar is a small, all-women's liberal arts school that is about doing it all: playing a varsity sport, holding a leadership position in ten different clubs, having a boyfriend, having three campus jobs, and earning an amazing GPA, all while wearing pearls and a pink bow in your hair."This is completely true. Sweet Briar will give you back every bit of energy you put in. It is a safe, welcoming, encouraging environment that permits incredible opportunities in all areas- academics, research, personal expression, community engagement, social responsibility, and leadership. Students who seek to have the fullest college experience possible will find that this school develops them to their potential as a well-rounded, well-educated, productive members of society. If you're looking for a place where you can get lost in the crowd, SBC is not for you. If you're looking to spend 4 years getting sloppy drunk and skipping class, SBC is not the place for you.If you're looking for a college that will provide you with all of the resources you need to become the best you can be, SBC is worth looking into.My four years at Sweet Briar were absolutely incredible, and I give the school (especially the phenomenal, approachable professors) complete credit for developing me into the successful, well-spoken, and confident woman I am today. Given that I am a fully funded PhD student at a top program in my field, this is no small accolade. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this school.
