Basically, the only people who come to Parkland are townies who have lived here forever. I came from a different city naively thinking that I would meet people, but nobody talks. Or looks at each other. Or acknowledges each others existence. Parkland tries to provide some cool extracurricular stuff (the art gallery is actually super impressive), but the students couldn't care less so most ideas fall flat.As far as academics go, I haven't been completely challenged in a course yet. Some courses, syllabuses, etc. have been incoherent and not worth taking. Believe me, I would never have classified a class as "incoherent" before coming to parkland, but they definitely occur on this campus! Some of the faculty is knowledgeable and helpful, others have no idea what's going on. That really depends on who you work with. I've had some amazing professors, and some definitely not-so-amazing ones.In all reality, if you can go to another school, do it. I know people come to community colleges for financial reasons, but if you can, go to some cheap state school where you can at least meet people. You will definitely have more luck somewhere else!
