Major: Journalism (This Major's Salary over time)
College is what you make it. Some of the earlier comments talk about the boring weekends at MU if you don't "party." If you want a party school, go to one…there are plenty out there. MU has things to do if you want to, besides drinking.MU is a good college and I'm sick of hearing these people put it down. Is it perfect…no, but no college is. I felt comfortable at Millersville the first time I came for an open house. The feeling I got about MU turned out to be true when I began classes here. The students and staff are friendly. The campus is just the right size for me…not too big or not too small. As far as the classes go, having to take all the "gen ed" courses is not right. I know this isn't exclusive to Millersville, still, it is ridiculous. College should be only two years and the student should be able to take only courses related to their major. This "gen ed" requirement stuff is the education industry and teacher's union's way of keeping professors employed. Why should I pay for an "Art Appreciation" course in college when my major is biology? From kindergarten through 12 grade, I've had enough art. With the costs the way they are, this should be changed…of course, it won't be, with the stranglehold the union has on education! Millersville thas a nice campus. True, the campus looks terrible now with all the construction going on. I, for one, wonder why they have to re-do the SMC, etc., it was fine before. IF it's not broke, don't fix it! Spending money to spend money…in this economy. Also, get finished with the construction already! It sure doesn't seem like they are moving at a good clip.Millersville University is a good college. I'm glad I chose it and would not go anywhere else. All the things you need are here, the people are nice, the cost is reasonable, the campus is beautiful (when there isn't construction going on), the dorms are comfortable, clean and safe. The classes are varied and I think you will get a good education here. College is what you make it and attitude is everything.
