The bit about Powerpoint slides rings especially true. ASU was the first school I'd been to where the students sat like zombies while the profs read from their slides. No notetaking, no engagement, just complete and total "zone out." The younger foreign faculty may not even know what notetaking is when they see it.Ditto on the foreign professors - I had two teaching GRADUATE LEVEL ENGINEERING COURSES that couldn't sspeak English, much less talk about their course topics coherently. Parking - I've heard stories of spaces getting rented for THOUSANDS of dollars and I used to get rude notes on my windshield because the parking spaces are, well, less than they might be, which pretty much describes everything at ASU except the inflated salaries. |
Major: Chemistry (This Major's Salary over time)
Most professors read the power point slides to the class and call it lecture; I could have stayed home for that. If you even get the opportunity to ask a question do not expect an answer that makes sense. Out of 5 professors I have this semester 4 do not speak english well. Parking fees are ridiculous and spaces are tiny. Students are rude: Get used to being shoved or hit by bicycles and skateboarders.
