Major: Interior Design (This Major's Salary over time)
As a transfer student I viewed Winthrop University as a place to obtain an accredited Interior Design degree at a lower cost than private art schools. Over the last two years I have noticed several things lacking at Winthrop especially an intellectual culture. Located in Rock Hill, South Carolina you would think the university has a secluded college town vibe - quite the opposite. The area tends to foster ignorant uneducated individuals who lack a greater understanding of the real world and the absence of social interaction only reinforces this downfall. The "beautiful town" that is Rock Hill is actually nothing more than a super Wal-Mart, a dozen title loan lenders, about 7 pawn shops and a handful of fried food pig pens - an inspiring college town? While Winthrop is cheap relative to other schools, it ended up being a waste of my money due to the lack of resources and exposure to necessary components needed for my type of degree. If you are considering this school I hope it is because they have the exact degree you need at the most affordable price. Please don't kid yourself into thinking this will be a great place to go and enjoy college and graduate with a well rounded education.
