Major: Art & Design Department (This Major's Salary over time)
I don't know why people think the negative comments are from NESAD students—because they probably are not. The programs at NESAD are very demanding and rewarding. One studio class meets for 2 hours and 20 minutes twice a week versus a traditional class such as writing or psychology which meets for three 50 minute periods a week. NESAD students take 3 to 4 studio classes a semester plus 2 regular classes! We are also required to take 5 total courses a semester while students in more traditional majors only have to take 4 classes a semester. NESAD students are some of the hardest working students at Suffolk. Although the workload is intense, we are learning so much that will make us highly marketable and employable in areas such as graphic design and interior design. NESAD is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design which is a very selective of which programs receive that designation. I looked at a lot of schools for graphic design and was accepted by all 7 of them, but I'm glad I chose NESAD because I am getting a great education.
