I
am an out of state student and I HATE FDU.
I came to FDU not because i wanted to or
even because of the financial aid package (Although it was
a generous 30,000). I came because my parents wanted to
me to be “close” to new york. As soon as
I stepped on campus everyone already knew one another and
were very clique-y. I didn't know my roommate before move
in day because the school gave me wrong information from
her (old email address and old phone number) and they
even spelled her name wrong so i could not add
her on facebook and talk to her.
Also, this
school gives a feeling of being trapped. It is hard
to get off campus and difficult to invite people in.
Public safety doesn't care about the students. they care more
about giving parking tickets than giving FDU students a sense
of security. They let anyone on campus and they will
not escort you anywhere. There are no panic buttons
in case you feel unsafe. Several classes let out at
8PM and Public Safety will not escort you to your
dorm room if you feel unsafe.
The people are
nice enough but no one really socializes around campus. It
is dry on the weekends because everyone goes home. Being
a few hundred miles away from home, i cannot go
home every weekend like the other students here. So I
am stuck in my dorm room eating pop tarts and
watching bad TV.
Oh yes, the food. i say
i sit in my dorm room eating pop tarts because
that is all there is to eat around the school.
this school serves the same foods every day. a “wok
it up” station, a sub station, and pasta, mashed potatoes
and hot dogs and hamburgers every day. All of which
are disgusting. Although i am not a vegetarian the veggie
station has the same thing every day. However, the salad
bar is usually pretty good. But come on, no college
kid wants to eat only salad every day for a
year. when i swipe in, i usually wish i hadn't
and sometimes i just waste food and end up eating
popcorn or ramen in my dorm room.
The schoolwork is
really why we come to school, right? Well the work
is not college level. I have had harder work in
sophomore year of high school. I feel like i am
not learning anything. I also feel as though i am
wasting my time and money coming to this school.
Overall,
i really dislike this school and i am not even
going to finish off the semester. I am the unhappiest
i have ever been at this school. I never thought
college could ever be this boring or frustrating. I'm gone,
if you can get into another school even if it
is more expensive, go there. DON'T GO TO FDU. its
a scam and really disappointing.
