I know this is the time of year that seniors are trying to figure out which college to go to, so I hope this helps someone or gives them a little more information. I want to discuss some things I really wish I had read on studentreview.com myself before deciding to come to CC. I'm from a small town in New England about 4 hours away from Champlain. I chose to come here over much more "respected" universities because CC offered me a great amount of money, and it was closest to my mom an sister. I read a lot of reviews on here, talked to students, did my research, and began life as a student here this August.

The campus is beautiful, and they maintain it pretty well. Because I enlisted as an Undeclared major, I was shafted to live off-campus at The Quarry, which means occasionally missing the short yellow school bus (yes, they make us take a special bus to college) that only shows up half the time. We have to walk the 2+ miles to campus unless we want to miss class (you don't want to. it's like high school; skipping class means you lose like 10% of a letter grade or something and they all take attendance.) For now, since it's still not too cold, I don't mind walking to my classes and seeing the mountains in the distance. Church street is pretty cool too, there are awesome stores that anyone can enjoy.

Okay, now to the nitty gritty. I would say that I'm easy to get along with, in high school I had a few friends from pretty much every "stereotype" group. I dress casually and like to straighten my hair in the morning, and wear a decent amount of makeup. If you do that here, a lot of people think you are "fake." Don't be outgoing/friendly, because then you are obviously even more "fake." The social part of CC really stumps me. The kids here that run around with blunts in their mouths, bitching about their "chillness, yo" and how they are judged by the "f*gs and c*nts" are the ones who are the most judgmental! I honestly came into this school with a positive and open attitude, and it was met with weird looks like, "Why are is someone I'm not ALREADY friends with talking to ME?" and literally walking in on these stoner brats calling me a "retard trying to be Champlain prom queen" (I got into U Richmond before this school, kiddo, and let's not throw around the R-word either.)

The people here in general could not care more about anything but themselves. I feel like a shrink. I've been on two dates with CC boys and I don't think either guy paused long enough to find out what my last name is. I know that is such an over-generalizing, and I sound needy, but honestly, so many people here talks about themselves an absurd amount. I would ask questions to get to know people, and instead of telling me about themselves and being like "what about you?" or trying to figure out if I even attend CC or just wandered on campus from a psych ward field trip, they blab on more about other things concerning the number one topic: themselves. It's not normal, I have been visiting colleges for my sisters and friends for years and I've never seen such a vast interest in oneself shared by such a majority!

After the first week, I just shut my mouth and kept to myself, and basically became another cold, unapproachable Champlain student. I just want this to come out, because before I actually came here all I heard was how great and cool the people here are. There certainly are some fantastic people, and most of my professors are incredible, but this social life is killin' an average girl who wasn't a nerd in high school nor a Miss Popular contestant. I know a lot of girls fall in that middle category, and I want them to know this stuff before they decide on CC like I did not! My room mates and other people I've spoken to are equally upset about the air around this school. (And on a less serious note, I've been here for many weeks and I've only been to one party that had no alcohol, just upperclassman snorting cocaine and talking about conspiracy. Those are typically the only parties here, no joke. Hence me writing on StudentReview.com on a friday night, FML.)

So, high schoolers, I am incredibly jealous of you. I too was in your position, looking at these reviews thinking "Ugh, but Endicott had some bad ones too, and UNH has a campus rapist…" If you like to have pleasant conversations, don't think your lungs can handle the 420 and cigarette drenched air 24/7, or simply don't want to give money to a school that honestly does not give a sh*t about anyone, DON'T GO HERE. SAVE YOURSELFFFF!!! (I know I'm being dramatic, but once again, it's friday night, I am a college freshman, and I am on studentreview.com. WTF.

questionWhat were you impressions on Endicott? I'm fairly sure I got accepted at Champlain but I also got into Endicott and really like what I've read about them
