Brookdale is a community college and is right for some and is not right for others. If you were a screw up in high school and are looking to start over again then this is a good option. If you are looking for a college experience to be challenged at meet people then this is not the place for you.Academics- Majority of the classes here are very easy. If you show up to every class, at least do some work, and pass on the tests you will get at least a B. The majority of students that fail here do not go to class. Attendance is mostly mandatory for classes and you are monitored as if you were in high school, there is attendance every class. Brookdale does have a good reputation to other schools and many students are able to transfer to the school they want after a year or two with no problem.Faculty- Some professors I had were great and a huge help while others did not even know the course they were teaching. I have had professors who have studied at Ivy league institutions and others I could have sworn were my garbage men. Professors are a hit or miss but for the most part feel the professor quality is low quality but it is a community college.Social life- If you are looking for that crazy college experience think again. This is a commuter school and students leave almost as soon as they show up. You may make friends in your classes but dont expect to hang out with them outside of school. Everybody here works and has their own group of friends from high school back in their home town making it difficult to meet people. Many people from outside the freehold area that come here are just really weird. There are clubs and stuff but nobody gets involved when they can just go home and meet up with friends. This school is basically an extention of high school.Overall- If you want to save alot of money and transfer to a good school then this is not a bad option. If you come here however just for the academics your social life will be in the toilet and you will miss out on a true college experience. As much as they try to make this school comparable to a four year institution it simply wont be and students dont treat it as one either. I recommend a four year school to anyone who can afford it.
