Curry College is a second- if not third-rate school which disguises itself as a first-rate school—not that the disguise itself is very convincing, but I didn't really imagine that I could feel as let down by it as I do. I have ADHD-PI (ADD, but they decided to not call it that anymore) which has caused me serious problems in school in the past, so I thought that having a program like PAL would be crucial to my success in college. Maybe it would in a better college, but not here. I don't have to do anything to pass my classes; the hardest class I have is Photo, and that's because I need to get myself to the darkroom outside of class time, which is difficult for me due to the challenges that ADHD presents me with. I can imagine that the PAL program would be more helpful to me if I actually had work to do, though. My PAL advisor is very friendly and would do what she could to help me if I needed it. The thing is, I just don't need it here. I don't think I'd want to stay even if I thought the academics were challenging. There's nothing to do, the students aren't generally the friendliest people, and the housing is substandard. I myself am living in a forced double, which is really a single which just barely meets fire codes for housing two people. The buildings are generally clean for the most part, though the bathroom on my floor is always a dump. Everything is old,, either painted over with ten layers of industrial vinyl paint or worn to the point of being ugly and/or nonfunctional. Equity is not present in the housing here. I'm paying the same room and board fee as everyone else here, but the room across from me is more than twice the size of mine and still only houses two people. My roommate moved out two weeks into the year due to extremely severe depression, so I was alone in this room for about a month. Then, at 10:30 a.m. one Friday, when I was actually going to get some sleep, a kid knocked on my door telling me that he was my new roommate and he was supposed to be moving in that day. I moved all my stuff over to one side of the room so he could get his stuff in there, but I wasn't inclined to let this happen, as they hadn't given me notice like their policies said they would. I went to the RD and was told that my door had been knocked on two weeks prior but I hadn't been there. Apparently nobody thought it appropriate to shoot me an email or a phone call to let me know. In addition, somebody told my mom that one of the Res Life employees had slipped a note under my door, but no such note had appeared in my room. Either somebody lied or is incompetent… or maybe both. The most positive thing about this school is my Intensive Writing Workshop professor, Sanford Kaye, who's one of the nicest people Ive ever met in my life. Overall, though, Curry College sucks, unless you're an academically challenged football player or you want to socialize with assholes.

One last thing I'd like to add: a review here says the school feels more like a business than a place of education. I completely agree.
