If you're looking for a good education, then UCONN is a great choice. Of course, college is so much more than just going to class. It's the first time you're living on your own, it's a chance to meet new people and form bonds that will last for the rest of your life. That being said, if you don't make friends within the first month or two of the semester, you're doomed. People make friends FAST here, and if you're the odd one out, your social life will suck. I had a disadvantage from the get-go because I do not drink, so I don't go to any of the parties on weekends. Oh, that's another thing- almost everyone drinks here. It's a crazy party school, and I feel like that's the only reason some people even come here. So if you do decide to go to UCONN, go for the education, but don't expect much else. There are good on-campus clubs and activities, but a lot of them are pretty unorganized. Join a fraternity or sorority if you drink to get a good social life. The campus is absolutely DEAD on weekends because all the in-state kids go home (including me). You also need to be able to handle the Connecticut winters and lots of walking, cuz it's a big campus. It's pretty in certain areas, but I've seen better. Dorms are pretty nice some are very small but if you're good at designing a room then you should be able to make the most out of it. Food is good but it gets boring after a while. I'm looking to transfer for next year.

Overall:

Education: GOOD

Social Life: OK (GOOD if you make friends fast, BAD if you don't)

Living: OK

Campus: BAD
