Going to Drake University was the biggest mistake of my life. I am a freshman, and already I know a fair number of people who are considering transferring or who are transferring next year. First of all, the people form their groups very early on and are stuck-up and arrogant to anyone else. Everyone says about this being a "secret party school" but in reality the parties are non-existent sometimes or invite only other times. If you are not apart of greek life or know someone who is, good luck meeting people and going out on the weekends. Almost everyone here has a boyfriend or a girlfriend so most people are taken before they even come to this school. Professors are helpful and understanding for the most part, so no complaints there. However, the food is some of the worst I have ever had, it's actually painful eating here most days. As others have said, this university does a great job of selling itself from the outside and to visitors, but once you get here you realize this is not how college is supposed to be. I wish I had read some of these reviews before I made the mistake of going here. Oh, and Des Moines is the sorriest excuse for a city I have ever seen. But hey, I would rather be in the city then on campus, where people literally get stabbed and shot. Think I am lying? I guy got stabbed outside of Walgreen's which is right off campus and a guy got shot outside a bar just outside of campus. Don't make the same mistakes I did, don't be seduced by their lies. Don't come to Drake University, where everything is a D+.
