I've been reading these reviews since freshman year, wondering when I'd end up writing one myself and if it would be good or bad. I'm relieved to say that so far I genuinely feel at home at Endicott. The school is small, so you don't really walk across campus without seeing a familiar face (and I've only been here for 3 months). While I personally like this, it may not have the same appeal to others. Endicott definitely isn't for everyone. I know a few kids who want to transfer on the basis's that it isn't big enough, that the parties aren't good enough, that it's too much like high school, etc, etc. Basically, if you want to be part of a huge community with huge classes held in giant lecture halls and attend crazy frats parties on the reg., I'd suggest not coming here. However if you think you'd prefer running into your friends all over campus, only having to leave for classes until five minutes before they start, and getting tipsy in a friend's or a friend of a friend's dorm, then you'll love it here.

Endicott, like anywhere, has its pros and its cons. I'll start with the cons to get them over with. First and foremost, Endicott accepts a pretty great portion of its applicants, meaning that not everyone here cares about academics as much as you might. My advice? When people invite you to get messed up on a Tuesday night and you have a paper due at 8 o'clock the next morning, just say no thanks. Freshmen aren't allowed to have cars which can be really difficult. There's really nowhere you can buy groceries and such that you can get to unless you take the shuttle or an expensive taxi. The problem is that when you take the shuttle, the entire trip to and from, lets say, target, usually ends up taking a lot longer than anyone has time for on weekdays… so if you run out of things to drink on a Monday you go thirsty for the rest of the week. This isn't really a great reason not to attend but you should be aware that it's kind of a pain to get off campus when you're a freshman. The only other con I can think of is that fact that they coddle us a little bit too much. For example, prior to your first and second winter internships (you're required to do two of these and one semester long internship before you graduate), you are required to take a really unnecessary class on how to find an internships. These classes are boring and full of tedious busy work, which is for some reason, graded. I think pretty much everyone at Endicott agrees that they are a waste of time (except the faculty who put them in place).

Onto the good stuff. The food is decent. Though Callahan (the dining hall) is very hit or miss, the lodge and Joe's cafe are both pretty delicious. The Lodge is open till 1 or 2 in the morning every night so it's a great place to go if you miss (or were not satisfied by) dinner at the Callahan, which closes at 7 on week nights. You can get all the good stuff like chicken fingers, mozz sticks, sandwiches, etc. there. As far as academics go, I love my classes so far. I've been excelling due to the fact that the teachers actually seem to care how I'm doing or how much effort I'm putting in. I can't speak for all departments because I'm a creative writing major, but I've already grown really fond of the English teachers as a whole. It's pretty easy to get into Boston considering the shuttle brings you a commuter rail stop which runs into North station. I've already used it a few times to visit friends who go to school in Boston. I guess the main thing left to talk about would be the people here. You might not find your best friend right away, but considering it's a small school, chances are you'll meet people you get along with as soon as summer orientation. During your orientation you're grouped into majors at one point, which means that you'll suddenly be surrounded by people who are drawn to the same thing as you. Not to be cliche, but joining clubs is also a really easy way to find people with your interests. I only say it because it's true. I've met loads of people that way. When it comes to Endicott the good pretty heavily outweighs the bad.

So come on up!
