(sorry this is long)I came here by force of my parents, but I kept an open mind about it.

I'll start with the positives (the few) the education quality is great, the teachers (most) makes the class participate in what is being taught and they make sure everyone understands everything before moving on. The business teachers) are very competent and come form a background of being in either their own business or working for a big corporation. I am in the business program and it is very good and the Lubin School has meetings every week where there are speakers form companies or sometimes they have meetings where students learn how to dress or review their resumes. The nursing program is great too, but the course work is very difficult, so heads up!

Now the negatives - first off the school has a small population, i believe 3500 it may sound like a lot, but for a college it is small. For me this is a negative, others may like it. Second, there are two campuses Pleasantville and Briacliffe. If you live on Briacliffe you have to take the lovely (sarcastic tone) bus to and from each campus, so that means constantly being on a schedule and checking when the bus comes it gets very annoying after awhile and really sucks when you miss the buss by a minute or two. Third, the campus is dead on the weekends, there is more going on at a funeral home. There is nothing to do, the town doesn't have much to offer except for a good chinese food place. The only option is to go to the City or the townhouses. good luck getting to the townhouses on briacliffe because it's on the Pleasantville campus and up a hill so you need someone with a car (bus stops running at 12:30 a.m.). also, everyone goes home on the weekends and return late sunday night b/c most people are form the area or LI. Fourth, smoking weed is huge here and smoking cigarettes is very common. Everywhere you go someone is smoking or asking you to or for a smoke. Fifth, the school states they have so many clubs and organizations, no there are hardly any! i was standing in the club fair and asked where the other clubs were only to find they were all out (about 20 of them). Sixth, joining a sorority or fraternity is heavily stressed and flyers and students are everywhere saying to join their sorority/fraternity. Without joining one you are an outcast. Seventh, the people are friendly int hat they will say hello to you, but in terms of asking to hang out with them, they judge you right there and if they deem that you have nothing to offer them they will not get to know you. Certain dorms have little or no social life so beware. Eight, there is barely any school spirit at sporting events and there is a small audience for the games that consists mostly of parents. If you want a school with sports teams, look elsewhere

There are two types of students, ones that want to go to college to pursue a career and ones that are going to satisfy their parents and barely pass classes. Many maaaaany people go home on the weekends mainly because there is nothing to do here. I would encourage people to look elsewhere if they want a real college experience. If you want diversity and making friends that will be with you after college, go elsewhere. If you want to attend sporting events, go elsewhere. If you want to join a particular club, it won't be offered at Pace so go elsewhere. If you want to get an education, go home on the weekends then go to Pace. I can't say anything bad about this school academically because it is good at that, but socially this school is as fun as a senior citizen home on bingo night. Also, having a roommate from hell doesn't help my view on this school. I am going to 100% be transferring after the 2010 spring semester and start new again and forget I ever went here.

If you are looking at colleges I strongly advise shadowing a student it will help you greatly in choosing a college and I wish I had done it for this school. Also, orientation here is a bust, there is hardly anytime to socialize nor do they make an effort to make everyone come together and get to know each other instead of drilling you in how to pay off debt. Some will read this review and laugh at it, others I hope you take my advice. I'm still wondering where my ridiculously priced tuition goes towards because for $43,000 (increasing I think) I expected more.
