is a slacker school I cant speak for every person
attending this university because some are not slackers but most
of the people who go to eastern are after spending
one semester here I can say that with confidence. I
honestly felt like I was in high school I could
get homework assignments and be able to push them off
last minute and still get A's with little or no
effort on my part. This is college and I expect
to be challenged I expect to learn so I can
succeed and eastern doesn't do it for me. What I
mean by slacker school is since it only takes a
2.0 to get into eastern they let everybody in. Most
of the people Ive seen around dont even study and
their still hanging around campus. I had roommates and friends
who hardly did any homework and were passing all their
classes. Its a slacker school this is the school were
people who didnt try in high school get into. If
your educated and dont wanna be surrounded by ignorant people
dont go here seriously. If your smart and actually want
a degree that you worked for and want it to
mean something dont go to eastern its just like highschool.
Eastern is ghetto and an easy university to not only
get in but stay in its not challenging at all.The
social life is a joke sure people say its diverse
and it is diverse crowd but its still segregated people
stay in their own clicks pretty much based on their
race hence asians hang with asians whites hang with whites
blacks hang with blacks so segregated especially in the eastern
eateries by the dorms you will see what I mean
I mean some people hang around different crowds but for
the most part its segregated. Since eastern is a commuter
school everyone goes home on the weekends parking lot is
dead empty and ypsilanti is such a boring town theirs
nothing to do but to go to Ann Arbor. There
are no partys on campus dorms are too small and
police crack down on it eastern used to be a
party school but now not so much. The partys are
usually off campus in Ann Arbor good luck if you
dont have a car or the Kappa frat parties but
lately some have been getting shut down. On campus is
safe but a few miles out your not as safe.
You even get get emails almost everyday on your eastern
mail account telling you about off campus crimes a few
miles from the university. Rarely you will get one on
campus its usually about a theft. The only reason the
university is safe is because EMU has their own police
force. Even so I would still lock my door and
double triple check the lock. Girls I have to point
out the girls. Eastern doesn't have the finest girls .
Most of the girls I saw were straight but nothing
really special few fine girls in between but for the
most part nah not that fine or even sofistiacted for
that matter based on my experience. The football team sucks
thats pretty much all I have to say they hardly
win any games the own football team wasn't even hype
at the pep rally and it shows in their performance.
The good programs they actually have like the forensics team
get underrated when their actually the only programs succeeding at
EMU. Now eastern is polished and looks good on the
outside with its nice college campus and library and computer
lab but its not really all there. There some positive
things about this university but most of the things that
really matter in a good school lack the academics are
easy its not even remotely challenging to pass any of
the classes and your paying so much money for a
education thats not really there. I had one class with
a teacher who missed 3 weeks of the entire semester
unannounced. No partial refund no nothing. Ypsilanti the surrounding city
is dangerous and boring the social life sucks people stay
in their own groups and clicks and keep to themselves
otherwise. No partys eastern is no longer a party school
like it used to be a few years back according
to some past eastern alumni I asked before coming here.
Im disappointed with eastern michigan as a school and Im
transferring out to another university maybe U of M which
is right down the street in Ann Arbor. Bottom line
if you wanna get into a easy university and get
a easy degree with little work involved and don't wanna
be challenged in your college education and don't wanna work
hard for it eastern is for you. If you plan
on working hard for and education and take pride in
your academic experience don't go here try U of M.
