Major: Undecided (This Major's Salary over time)
I am a freshman at suffolk university, trying my hardest to get out of there. i used to research about this school when i was applying to college, and i thought it sounded really cool to be in the city; dont believe what you hear. it was my number one school, and also one of the worst decisions of my life.To be fair, suffolk does have really nice classrooms. the seats were comfy and big, and the classrooms had all new technology, including whiteboards that came down from the ceiling. but lets face it, for the 43,000 tuition, we should have these things. it is clear to see where your money goes, which is kinda nice.
While the clases are awesome, the people are all so rich and arrogant. i literally felt like a fish out of water. I found it hard to make friends because of the wide spread classes and no campus. Also, if you get assigned the 10 west dorm, run away now. No one opens their doors, very anti social, and you have to clean your own bathroom as well as your suite all together. trust me, it doesnt sound that bad..but it is!Also, I am not poor, but i dont have money to blow like some of these kids who go shopping and to bars everynight. one week i went out a few nights to the bars and spent over $150, in order to have fun in boston you need to spend money, and sometimes, a lot of it. The only way to have fun and go out is if you know the bouncer of a club, or if you have a fake id, which i had. Before i got it, i stayed in every night or walked around the north end, allston or BU with people looking for parties, which usually resulted in going home and going to bed anyways. The city of boston, as much as i love it, really doesnt have much to offer a college kid. There are lots of stores but they get old. The city itself is really small too, and its just not as fun as i had imagined. I live in a suburb outside of boston, and usually came home just because i was bored. all.of.the.time. again, you need money to have fun. there are no parties on campus, absolutely NONE, except for peoples apartments in the north end, which the police come all the time.
The city is filled with people who harass you on your way to class too. if you live in tremont or 10 west, you have to walk up the hill, to another hill, its not fun- especially in the rain/snow.I am transferring out of suffolk, but i will miss the few friends i made, the comfy classroom chairs, and, well,i think thats it. suffolk is NOT worth the money at ALL. many of you will read this and not believe me or think that you are different. believe me, i thought i was too. college IS what you make it, but its hard to make suffolk much of anything with the lack of resources it provides. you can find a better school in the city with more than suffolk has to offer. i promise. think before you consider enrolling!
