Major: Nursing (This Major's Salary over time)
I spent 1 year at a huge public university from my home state before transferring to Franciscan, so I can compare for you. I was 100% miserable at the state school, and my four years at Franciscan were the best of my life. I made the best friends of my life at Franciscan, grew so much in my spiritual life, and gained a valuable degree. I would also like to point out that I'm not a "charismatic" person. I don't go to FOPs and I don't like P&W. That being said, I never felt out of place. There are only a few negatives I would like to point out: 1) Really think about your major before you choose a college; I'm all about learning theology/philosophy/etc, but realistically think about how you're going to make a living once you graduate. Four years go by FAST and it's a tough world out there (especially if you're planning on supporting a family of your own). I majored in nursing, I live very frugally, and even I don't think I'd be able to support a family right now. 2) There are a ton of things to do at Franciscan; lots of community service activities, NCAA or just intramural sports, awesome lectures to go to (seriously, really cool people come and give talks here), swing dancing, hiking trips, etc, etc. The point is that YOU determine how good life here is. There are a million opportunities to socialize, but if you don't take them you will be lonely! Everyone's really friendly! Just step out of your comfort zone and do a couple of extracurriculars consistently and you'll make good friends.

To sum up, I love Franciscan a lot. Best years of my life thus far. But: think long term about your major; participate in activities on campus.
