Coming to the Mount was the biggest mistake of my life. At open houses, so much information is left out to you during their excellent presentation of the school. But once you get here, you will want nothing more than to leave. The school fails to mention that the transfer rate is roughly 50%. I was a freshman this year and am transfering for the spring semester, along with many other freshman who are either doing the same, or waiting to do it next fall. The campus is way too small as well. Yes, the student body is about 3,000, but two thirds of them are commuters. Only 1000 students actually live on campus. And there is nothing to do on campus. There is no football team, the sports here suck, and no one likes to get involved or do anything. Also, if you do go here, do so at your own risk. It is located in Newburgh, NY, a city that has the highest murder rate per capita in the entire state of New York. That includes cities like the Bronx. It's nickname is Mount Saint Murder.Walking back from a party (which are decent, when you're not spending them at places like "La Hacienda" or "Pub 151") while you are drunk is a death wish if you're not in a large group of people. The workload was expected - it's college. I know people who go there and think that college is just one big party, and wonder why they are doing so poorly. If you stay focused and do your work, you can balance your time well and make the most of what is possible to make the most of while you are at this school. The teachers are also very nice and easily available. However, I have spoken with several friends of mine who are nursing majors, and are looking to get out as fast as they can. THE NURSING PROGRAM'S CREDITS DO NOT TRANSFER. Others, such as business do, but it isn't worth being miserable. I mean it when I say think long and hard before you decide to make this your college of choice.I'm not going to tell you where or where not to go. But I had wish someone had told me how bad MSMC actually was before I spent an entire semester there during my freshman year.
