My initial thoughts about Oswego were fairly positive.  The lake was nice, close to Canada (Toronto is about a 5 bus ride away which isn't bad, but that does not include the 2 bus to Syracuse), it had a lot of snow.  As a meteorology major they drew me in with Storm chasing and the lake effect snow.  However, the student here at Oswego are the worst.  Let me give you a little break down of the general makeup of the students.  They're all from New York; a lot coming from Long Island.  I don't find anyone here interesting or remotely intellectually stimulating.  The rest of the people either love sports or are so generic that they blend in with the rest of the people.  Everyone is white and has the some bland personality.  The minority population don't make friends outside their races (from what I have observed).  This is pretty much highschool 2.0.  I was afraid it was going to be like that, I wanted to believe that it was nice here.  One of my really good friends already transferred out after his first semester.  Now i've just found out that 2 other of my good friends are transferring leaving me with literally almost no friends.  It's not that i can't make friends, i'm a pretty normal guy and can make friends pretty easily, it's just that i don't want to be friends with anyone.  If you're looking for real people don't go here, if you're an average bro or a girl who like nickelback than you will be fine here.  There is nothing to do in the “city” and you have to walk everywhere.  The frats suck and not fun at all; they serve watered down beer and the houses are packed and hot.  So if you're looking to get drunk and meet bland people Oswego is your place!
