I transferred to Lindenwood after going to a large public university out-of-state. Tuition at Lindenwood at full price is way cheaper than out-of-state tuition at any major public or private university. And Lindenwood offers lots of scholarship opportunities to cut into that amount.I love the history of the campus, it is the second oldest school west of the Mississippi River (the first is St. Louis Univ.). Many of the academic buildings are well maintained historic buildings from the early 1900s, walking around the older parts of campus reminds me of Harvard or Yale. The campus also has many modern facilities academic, athletic, and residential. Parking is not a problem compared to larger universities. And since the campus is nicely laid out and isn?t so big, even the furthest parking spot is only a 5 min walk. Many of the dorms are new and are not a problem, the biggest on-campus residence issues are the rules that limit opposite-sex members in your dorm and issues with the houses- Basically LU is growing faster than they can build dorms so they bought a neighborhood next to the campus full of small old ranch-style homes. They need to just wreck them down and build more dorms. The food in the cafeteria is good, there?s also a lot of healthy options with salads, and fresh made sandwiches. And it?s all you can eat. It gets crowded at lunch but the new LU Commons student center should take some of the pressure of the one major cafeteria on campus. If you don't like the food there's lots of fast food places a short walk away, including the almighty Taco Bell! If you like or play sports, Lindenwood has lots of sports to play and watch. Lindenwood has a great tradition in athletics with many of the teams winning league and national championships. The big issue is that LU has outgrown the NAIA- made up of small colleges. The university is moving to NCAA Division II so our competition will increase and we?ll play some bigger named schools, including some DI schools. That?ll increase the visibility of the university and of the athletic programs.Everyone is really helpful, other students, staff, professors, etc.. at LU I don?t feel like I?m being identified by the student number on my id card. Classes are between 15-30 people and there are no large lecture classes. Also graduate students don?t teach classes so all the education comes from real professors.
